Govind Ballabh Pant was in the front rank of Indian nationalist leaders, playing a key role first in India's struggle for freedom and subsequently in the politics and administration of independent India. Drawing on a wide array of private and archival sources, this series provides both an illuminating picture of the career and personality of a remarkable leader and illuminating insights into Indian politics before and after 1947. The first volume takes us from 1906 to 1924, from Pandit Pant's formative years as a student to his emergence as the leader of the Swaraj party in the U.P. Legislative Council in early 1924.
