Auto Sign In . You can quickly sign automatically by selecting this . Your password will be saved on your computer but will be encrypted so no one can find out what it is even if they have access to your computer. Anyone with access to this computer will however be able to sign in to your account with us.

Use Rich Graphics. Unchecking this will stop product images being shown on our selected products pages. This is to speed up the display of pages if you have a slow internet connection.

Users

Our site enables an account to have two types of users. Administrators (level 1) and Staff (level 2). Staff have limited permissions which allows bursars or other administrators to control budgets by controlling what gets purchased when.

The users page is where administrators can create other users and set their permissions.

Existing Users:

When you first enter the Users page it will show you a list of the existing users for your account.

To edit an existing user's details, click Edit next to the user you want to change. or To create a new user click New on the right hand side. User Details: You can set the following properties of users: Full Name. This will appear with Saved Items so that administrators can easily tell who requested the item. Department. This will also appear with Saved Items so that administrators can deal with different departments with multiple users. A user can only have one department. Login Name. This is the name the user will use to sign in to our site. It will also appear with Saved Items if a full name is not given. Password. This is the user's sign in password. Email address and Telephone. Enter an email address or telephone number if we should contact the user who saved the item if there is a problem with the order. If no details are given we will contact the account administrator as set in the account details. Role: This determines what the user is and isn't allowed to do. An administator is allowed to place orders and access information about all users of this account, including setting up other users and viewing their Saved Items. Staff users are not allowed to purchase items and can only see their own details but can place items in their Saved Items for purchase by an administrator. Status. This sets the status of the user. To stop a user signing in to the site, set their status to Suspended. There is currently no difference between a new and current user. To save the details or to create the new user click Save. From here you can either create another user or go back to the list of existing users.

Searching

Searching This website allows you to search around 2.2 million titles currently available (in print) in the UK and Ireland. All information is updated daily. To do a general search, place keyword(s) in the Search box on the home page and press the Go button. Enter only the main words. To speed up your search, try to leave out 'noise' words, such as the, and, to, of etc. So for example, by typing 'Lord Rings' into the Title field, you will find the Lord of the Rings series. The Advanced Search allows a more detailed search: By checking the Include 'out of print' items field on the search page you will also be able to search through over 400,000 titles currently unavailable (out of print) in the UK and Ireland. You can locate a title by searching a combination of five different search fields (Title, Author/Artist, Publisher, Format and ISBN/Cat.No) and two different search criteria (Keywords and Starts). Each search field can be searched though either a 'Keyword' or a ‘Starts’ criteria. If you don't choose one, the system will default to Keyword. If you select Starts enter the first few words. For example, 'A Christmas' will find A Christmas Carol as well as A Christmas Wish. Hint: To find all titles by an Author/Artist , simply click that Author/Artist 's name within the search results. Hint: Click on any title within the search results to find similar titles To find out more about a title, click the cover image or ISBN/Cat.No on the search results page. This will bring up the product detail window. Here you will see a summary, description and further details. Over 500,000 titles include a jacket cover image. TAKE CARE when selecting the titles you want to order - they may be available in several editions and in more than one format.

Pricing and Availability

Every effort is made to keep the prices quoted from the database as accurate as possible, but please be aware that publishers can sometimes vary their prices from those listed.

All discounted items are shown with the original price struck through in red and the new discounted price in green.

For each title, the site provides an estimate of its availability based on daily updated information.

Pre-Publication - means that the title has not yet been published, but may still be available to order. In Stock/In Showroom means we have stock of the title. Available means that the title is currently in stock at our wholesaler or publisher. Limited Availability means that although we have stock, the title is not generally available. Temporarily Unavailable means that the title is in print, but our supplier is out of stock. Special Order means that our supplier does not stock this title, and that we have to order direct from the publisher, and as such, while generally available, may take longer to arrive. Unavailable means that the title is currently out of print. (Order times are subject to availability - titles can take longer if they are in reprint or on order from abroad) If you need your title for a particular date (e.g. birthday, essay deadline etc.) then we would advise you to order in plenty of time (about 2 weeks in advance), add a note to your order or contact us directly - we will be pleased to help.

Collection / Delivery Most items that are currently available will normally be delivered within 5-15 days after receipt of an order. We operate a hotline service during September and October where delivery times are significantly reduced. We will also endeavour to supply any urgent orders received throughout the year quickly and efficiently and items can take as little as 24 hours to supply depending on the supplier and/or whether the item can be sourced through a wholesaler although this may result in nil/ reduced discount. We are also able to email you when items are dispatched from our warehouse, please contact us to register for this service. All unavailable items are reported on our invoices and are recorded for future supply unless the item is out of print, the publication has been abandoned or there are no UK selling rights.

Security

We realise how important it is to treat securely any information that you provide and we maintain the highest levels of security.

Our website uses 128-bit SSL encryption technology to protect data between our server and your computer. This is the most advanced security level currently available for online transactions. You can tell whether a page is secure as 'https' will replace the 'http' at the front of the address in your browser address window. A small locked padlock icon may also appear in the bottom bar of your browser window (depending upon the browser you are using). 'Double clicking' on this icon will display details of the certificate we use.You can further check the level of encryption by 'right-clicking' on the web page, and selecting the 'Properties' menu option; encryption information is shown in the pop-up dialogue, where again details of the certificates we use can be displayed.

In addition, secure personal data (such as your password) stored on our servers is also encrypted and held in a database away from our main web server.

If you have any questions about the secuity of our website or your order please contact us - we will be pleased to help.

Privacy

Privacy Other than as part of an order process, we make no effort to identify public users of our site. No identifying data is disclosed to any third party for any purpose. Data that we collect is used only for service administration.

Cookies are only used to hold information relating to current navigation within the site (known as 'session cookies') or to provide extra help to first time visitors and optionally to store your password.

As is typical, we log http requests to our server, both on the server itself and using Google Analytics. This means that we know the originating IP (e.g. 18.29.0.1) address of a user agent requesting a URL. We also know the Referer and User-Agent information accompanied with an HTTP request. We do not log the specific identity of visitors, unless performing a specific online transaction or an explicit login has taken place, in which case full details are retained. We occasionally analyze the log files to determine which files are most requested and the previous site or user agent which prompted the request. Our logging is passive; we do not use technologies such as cookies to maintain any permanent information on users.

Logged information is kept indefinitely as administrative and research material; it is not disclosed outside of this site. Aggregate (completely non-identifying) statistics generated from these logs may be reported as part of research results.
