The four books included in this omnibus-On the Face of the Waters (Flora Annie Steel, 1896), Siri Ram Revolutionist ( Edmund Candler, 1912), Indigo (Christine Weston, 1943), and The Wild Sweet Witch (Philip Mason, 1947)-have all been out of print for forty years or more. The decision to revive these is based largely on the growing importance of Anglo-Indian writing within a post-colonial discourse. The omnibus carries a comprehensive Introduction by Saros Cowasjee, a glossary of Indian words; and a brief biographical introduction to the each of the authors.
